Summer in the Lungau

In summer, PISTENBLICK Apartments are an ideal base for hikes, bicycle and mountain bike tours as well as countless expeditions throughout the Salzburger Lungau Biosphere Reserve. The region offers all kinds of opportunities for sporting activities as well as many different ways to get to know our local culture, countryside, the people, and our folk customs. Thanks to our new PISTENBLICK apartments, we have created a beautiful place for you where your holiday dreams will come true!

Hiking in the Lungau Region

Among guests from near and far, Lungau is renowned as a hiking paradise. Here, you are still able to find pristine nature, remote summits and less-trodden hiking paths. Climb alpine peaks, discover the beauty of our mountain tarns and conquer a 3000-meter giant! Set out on an easy family hike or take a walk along one of our theme paths – there is a wide selection to choose from. The closest to our Pistenblick Apartments include the Leisnitz Water Path and the Old Roman Way, which leads through the town center of St. Margarethen and wooded terrain to Pichlarn, passing right by us in the process. The hiking area which surrounds St. Margarethen takes you out through two Austrian provinces, Salzburg and Carinthia, promising an endless variety of beautiful tours, either out-and-back or full circuits.

Cycling & Mountain Biking in Lungau

You are barely a three-minute ride away from the Mur Bike Path, which runs along the bottom of Murtal, constantly accompanied by the River Mur, taking you to Tamsweg, then to Ramingstein, and finally to the Styrian reaches of the Mur river valley. Indulge your joy of mountain biking as you explore Lungau’s broad trail network – the Leisnitz mountain trail begins in the town center of St. Margarethen.

St. Michael Golf Course

This 18-hole golf course meets and exceeds all of your expectations for a day spent chasing that little white ball. The club, which is only 4 km from PISTENBLICK Apartments, features an idyllic golf course nestled harmoniously into the natural setting. From a driving range to beautifully manicured fairways and greens, from a golf school and pro shop, to a restaurant with a sunny terrace: practically guaranteed to be a beautiful day of golf to remember!

Summers in Motion

During your stay with us, you’ll probably have a chance to see them as well: paragliders and hang gliders launching themselves from the Speiereck, soaring high, painting a colorful picture in the brilliantly blue Lungau skies. It is quite possible that a tandem flight will become one of the absolute highlights of your own holidays. What do you think? At the local sports center, which is just a few minutes’ walk away, you will have an opportunity for a spot of tennis. A beach-volleyball court is also available. Of course, you are welcome to take things a little easier, if you prefer: The Sonnenbahn lift will carry you up the mountain, also in summer, with practically no effort on your part at all. That also applies to your conquest of the Aineck summit, thanks to the Aineck chair lift which you will be able to get on from the Katschberg side.

Culture and tradition

Our region’s history is fascinating and the cultural legacy of Lungau immense. Schloss Moosham is testimony to a pitiless judicial system during the Middle Ages, though its collections also include artifacts from the days of the Romans. Mauterndorf Castle, once a toll station and defensive fortification, today greets visitors with a fascinating exhibition and guided tours for the whole family, well worth a visit, both on beautiful days as well as when the weather isn’t necessarily “cooperating”. Be sure to check out whether the St. Margarethen town band has a concert scheduled, and even whether the giant “Samson” figure is likely to be dancing through the streets during your stay!
